Voices of Queer Women from North Africa

“Our strength is in our unity… one region… one struggle” was an online campaign launched by Bedayaa Organization for LGBT people in the Nile Valley (Egypt and Sudan), Masahat for Sexual and Gender Diversity, and the Algerian organisation Trans Homos DZ, as part of their celebration of International Women’s Day on 8 March 2016. The campaign aimed to shed light on gender-based violence against queer women (lesbian, bisexual and trans women) in North Africa, and to discuss why queer women have been absent from the map and agenda of feminist struggle in the region. The campaign published a booklet, “Voices of Queer Women from North Africa”, with stories of women from Egypt, Sudan and Algeria.
